Sunday Afternoon Rides - 1:00 p.m.  Ride leaves from Pearl City Station.  Distance to be determined by weather and cyclists who show up.  

 

Monday Night Rides - Starting OUTDOORS on Monday, April 14th

 

5:30 - Leave from Public Works (1459 Washington Street)

 

6:00 - Leave from Pearl City Station on the Riverfront.

 

Tuesday Night Rides - Meet at 6:00 at Harper's to ride.  This is a fast ride.

 

Wednesday Night Dinner Rides -  1st and 3rd Wednesday of each month.  Ride leaves from Harper's Cycling & Fitness at 6:00 p.m.   Normally we ride one way to a restaurant at a nearby town.  We need driver volunteers and vehicles to bring riders and bikes back to Muscatine.  Please call bike shop before 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday to let the shop know you plan to ride.  Reservations will be made at the restaurant.   Also let the bike shop know if you have a volunteer to drive.  Harper's Cycling & Fitness Phone 263-4043

 

Thursday Night Pace Group Ride - Every Thursday - Meet at 6:00 at Harper's to ride approximately 25-30 miles.  Average pace approximately 18-22 mph.  This is a paceline ride.

DUATHLON TRAINING

Save the dates!!!   We are going to have 5 organized Duathlon Training practices (also good for triathletes).  The distances will be a 2-mile run, 20K bike, 2-mile run.  The first one will be on Sunday, April 27th (if not raining).  We will begin at 1:00 p.m. and all the others will be at 6:00 p.m.  You are not racing against anyone except the clock.  It is a great way to practice your transitions and is perfect training for those looking to perform well in upcoming races.  The run will be flat and the bike portion will have hills.   A timer will be present for those who want to keep track of their own results for future reference and to track training progress in the subsequent training events.  Make sure to show up ahead of the start time to get your transition area set up.  Feel free to bring post-training refreshments to enjoy after the workout!

Directions to Saulsbury:  From ByPass 61, travel north on X54 (Mulberry North) approximately 3 miles.  There is a sign posted to turn left to head to Saulsbury (approximately 3.5 miles).

Saturday, May 3 - Bike Safety Rodeo - Hy-Vee - Muscatine.   10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.  More information to follow.   We will need volunteers.  Please contact Connie Mann at 263-9403 or cmann@machlink.com to volunteer for one or two hours that day.

 

Sunday, May 4 - Cinco Du Mayo (former Swing into Spring) - Davenport, IA  More info on www.cornbeltrunning.org

 

Sunday, May 18 - Family Bike Ride - Sponsored by the City Parks & Rec Department and Melon City Bike Club.  Starts and ends at Musser Park.  Ride is approximately 6 miles long on all city trails.  Refreshements will be served at the halfway point (Aquatic Center at Weed Park).  Free ride and no registration is necessary.  Helmets are strongly encouraged.

 

Sunday, May 25 -  Melon City Criterium - Weed Park - Muscatine

 

June 7-8 - TOMRV - Tour of the Mississippi River Valley - Ride leaves from Scott Community College (long route) or Preston (short route).  Cyclists ride to Dubuque and spend the night at Clarke College/Loras College and enjoy entertainment, beverage garden and a gourmet buffet meal.  On Sunday riders retun to Preston (short route) or Scott Community College (long route).  Distances on Saturday are approximately 108 (long route) and 65 (short route) on Sunday are 85 (long route) and 45 (short route).  For more detailed information, go to www.qcbc.org.
